From the supplier: Bassett Furniture Industries Inc has decided to settle its Clean Air Act violations by paying $575,000 in damages and spending another $1.6 million on pollution control programs. Bassett was sued for exceeding the state of Virginia's limits on particulate matter at its Bassett Table and J D Bassett Manufacturing facilities. The EPA had previously issued five notices of violations against Bassett. The consent decree signed by Bassett with the EPA requires it to implement an environmental management plan that will monitor smokestack emissions and audit its facilities for environmental compliance.
